RULES OF THE COMPETITION

I. The Organisers

International Bach Solo Competition is organised by Pro Cello Foundation (based on 71 Brzechwy Street in Poznań, Poland).

II. The Jury

III. The Contestants

  1. International Bach Solo Competition is open for violinists, violists and cellists of all nationalities, who are presently students of music schools, music conservatories and its alumni.
  2. The competition is divided into six categories (2 per each instrumental section):

Violin

  • I Category – music schools students (up to 20 years)
  • II Category – music conservatories students and alumni (up to 28 years)

Viola

  • III Category  – music schools students (up to 20 years)
  • IV Category – music conservatories students and alumni (up to 28 years)

Cello

  • V Category – music schools students (up to 20 years)
  • VI Category – music conservatories students and alumni (up to 28 years)

IV. The application

  1. In order to take part in The Competition, the candidate should fill in the application form available on following website: www.bachsolocompetition.pl
  2. The filled-in application form, together with a link to the 1st stage video recording (placed on YouTube platform), should be submitted until 15.06.2021
  3. The participation in the competition is possible after sending 80 EUR entrance fee. The payment can be done by credit card or via STRIPE and PRZELEWY24 systems integrated with application form.

V. Basic information

  1. The competition consists of two stages.
  2. First stage is based on participants’ recordings evaluation.
  3. All first-stage recordings will be shared with public and be available to listen between 15 – 30 June 2021.
  4. The Jury will choose from 3 to 6 participants in each category, who will pass to the final round.
  5. Live open audition of second stage is planned to take place in Poznań (Greater Voivodship) at the Concert Hall of Szeligowski Music School (4 Bydgoska Street) between 22-24.10.2021.
  6. The list of successful candidates qualified to the second stage will be published on 30.06 on the following website:www.bachSOLOcompetition.pl
  7. The Contestants will play in alphabetical order. The starting letter of the participants list will be established by the Organisers by a ballot and will be announced immediately together with second stage contestants.

  • Free choice of Sonata/Partita for violin solo out of BWV 1001-1006.

III Category – Viola: students of music schools

VII. Prizes and awards

  1. The results of the competition will be made public on 24th October 2021 after the auditions of second stage are finished.
  2. At the decision of the Jury, the First Prize Laureate may receive the Grand Prix for an outstanding performance.
  3. Special prizes will be awarded by the Jury.
  4. Decisions of the Jury are final and no legal action can be taken against them.
  5. The statutory prizes and awards will be presented to Awardees at the Concert of Laureates on 24th October 2021.
  6. All extra, non-statutory awards, will be disposed during Concert of Laureates.
  7. The participants of the first stage who did not advance to the final round might be awarded a Honorable Mention by the decision of the Jury

VIII. Travel and accomodation expenses

  1. Every participant qualified to the second round shall cover his/her travel and lodging expenses. 

IX. Additional information

  1. The Organisers of the Competition reserve unrestricted rights to broadcast, videotape, television, film, and audio recordings of the competition performances.
  2. All issues beyond the competence of the Jury will be decided by the Director of the Competition. The Director’s decisions are final and irrevocable and no legal action may be taken against them.
  3. The Organisers reserve the right to make alterations to the order of auditions for organizational reasons.
  4. Before the second stage, the contestants will be provided with a practise room at least 60 minutes prior their performance. The practise rooms are located in POSM (Poznań Music School) on 4 Bydgoska Street.
  5. The organisers reserve the right to process personal data contained in the application form necessary for the recruitment process and participation in The Competition in accordance with the Act of Personal Data Protection dated August 29, 1997 (Journal of Laws no 133, item 883 with later alterations).
  6. Providing the data is voluntary, but necessary to get qualified to participate in The Competition.
  1. The personal data controller is Pro Cello Foundation based in Poznań on 71 Brzechwy Street.
  2. Submitting the application form is tantamount to its understanding and giving the consent for rules and information presented above.
